Our show is a once-a-week, hour long sports talk show that airs on 98.1 FM WQAQ, the student-run radio station at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. It has a little bit of a different feel than your garden-variety radio show. While we definitely do not turn talk radio on its ear, we still want to shake things up a bit, while being organized as well. The show is broken up into three segments that are inspired by the script of one of the best sports skits of all time, “Who’s on First?” by Abbott and Costello. "Who's on First?" The first segment consists of both hosts talking about four “who’s” who are in the news. These could range from a specific player, coach, or team to even a league. Each of us talks about one of these "who's" for two minutes, and then the other host, once the horn sounds, has a minute to rebut or continue the thoughts further. Since this happens four times, the segment should be about 12-14 minutes long (we’re not perfect, or punctual all the time…). "What's on Second?" The second segment consists of two broad topics in sports that can be expanded on. We spend ten minutes on each topic, and this is the first time you can call in, and let us know your opinion. "I Dont Know" The final segment is a grab bag each week. We hope to have interesting guests call in or visit in-studio for this segment, but we would also entertain phone calls from you if we don’t already have a guest lined up. We may also use this segment to talk about anything else on our minds that we didn't cover earlier or didn't have the chance to fit in, whether it be sports related or not. In between the “Who” and “What” segments, and between the “What” and “I Don’t Know” segments, we take a break, which normally includes a song. While we enjoy playing our own tunes, we would enjoy it even more if you contact us and suggest any songs you would like to hear us play! We want to keep you engaged throughout the hour, even when we’re not yakking away. This show belongs as much to the listener as it does to us. So, we
hope you enjoy your time on this site and listening to us on the air.
Send us any feedback about the show or the site. We would love to improve
the way we connect with you, so please give us any suggestions you may
have. Thanks! |
